Breast enhancements have long been a cosmetic surgery option for women who are unhappy with the size or shape of their breasts. These surgeries have varied in technique but have generally required a silicone or saline implant to be placed inside of the breast. Natural breast enhancements, also know as natural breast augmentation, are beginning to become a popular alternative to the more commonly known enhancement techniques.
Natural breast augmentation works by performing liposuction to harvest fat from the woman’s body. Once the desired amount of fat has been suctioned away it is then processed and injected into the breasts. This procedure is able to be done while the patient is awake, utilizing only a mild sedative and localized numbing fluid for the affected areas.
Natural breast augmentation is typically recommended for women who are looking to gain only one to two cup sizes. This is not a procedure that can take a woman from a size A to a size DD. Women looking for a dramatic change in their cup size are still restricted at this time to the more traditional forms of breast enhancement surgery. Also, because the natural augmentation requires body fat, the woman must have an adequate amount of fat on her body available for harvesting.
Due to potential health concerns, along with the look and feel that is associated with silicone and saline implants, natural breast augmentation is growing in popularity. Instead of putting a foreign object into the woman’s breast, this procedure uses natural elements from the body. However, all of the fat that is injected into the woman’s breasts will not survive the procedure, therefore it may be necessary for the woman to go through two or three liposuction and fat injection sessions before the desired size is achieved.
Women who receive natural breast augmentation can expect the procedure to last for approximately four hours, after which they’ll need to wear a breast support for several weeks. Most women will be able to resume normal daily activities within a couple of days. If the procedure needs to be repeated, the same time table will generally be in place each time.
If you’re considering getting breast enhancement surgery be sure to consult with your physician to find out if you’re a good candidate for natural breast augmentation.
