At the 2018 American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Conference, Dr. Robert True gave a lecture on his technique of performing a labiaplasty. Called the True Labiaplasty, he developed the technique to help give women a better aesthetic result when doing labiaplasty procedure. Sometimes other techniques do not result in a natural appearance of the labia, which is a potential concern for women undergoing the technique. Dr. True said labiaplasty procedures should result in a more natural draping of the labia without jagged edges or irregular nodules along the labial walls, particularly in the delicate frenulum area. He believes that most women prefer a more aesthetic result and not just a chopped shortened labia minora.
