This June, Dr. True spoke at the Harvard Club in Boston about his practice and his passion to help people become healthier through the concepts of TrueMD Wellness. Improve your health through his three basic concepts: True Hormones, True Weight-Loss, and True Wellness Concepts.
Today’s medical health environment is quite different than during the past centuries. Back then people would die of pneumonia, infections, accidents, and war, which are more acute causes of death. Today, the leading causes of death are chronic medical illnesses such as heart disease, cancers, diabetes, stroke and Alzheimer’s disease.
Research has suggested that 80% of chronic medical illness are caused by actions we do (or don’t do) to ourselves. Some of us smoke; 70% of Americans are overweight and 40% are considered obese; we don’t exercise enough, and we don’t eat right; and most of us are too stressed, don’t sleep adequately, don’t take supplements, and don’t participate in a healthy social life. In addition, most of us don’t take hormones.
Dr. True’s system can improve your health if you start early, at least in your 40’s to 50’s. However, anyone can benefit no matter how old they are. He advocates maintaining a good weight and he has programs that help people lose weight if they are overweight. Plus, he helps people to eat the right foods. What are the right foods? They are the ones whose use is supported by the latest research on healthy eating and how it can help reduce the risk of you developing chronic medical diseases.
He recommends that you start using hormones when your levels drop. This is normally in the 40’s to 50’s. His TrueMD Hormone Pellet program titrates your dose individually according to your specific metabolism. When done properly, hormones can be life changers for those suffering from the symptoms of low hormones. Hormone Replacement therapy, when done properly with more bioidentical hormones, has also been shown to decrease your risk of developing heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease without increasing your risks of developing cancers or stroke.
Many supplements have been shown to be able to improve your health, such as omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin D, Curcumin and Green Tea. Vitamin D alone, when levels are boosted to higher levels, has been associated with a decrease in the risks of developing Alzheimer’s disease and breast cancer. There are many other supplements with other associated benefits.
Dr. True’s speech was warmly received by the Harvard Club audience
and his hope is that he has spurred an interest in anyone going forward and
embracing his concepts for improving their health. His motto is, “Health is a
decision you make every day.”
